i follow the “why save for tomorrow what you can do today” mantra.  hence, why procrastinate tomorrow when i can procrastinate today?  i suppose i’ll be kicking myself in the butt come moving day, but i just can’t bring myself to pack up all my belongings into stuffy old boxes.  would you want to be cooped up in a dusty box? i think not.

in the spirit of fighting for the freedom of my knick-knacks from cardboard imprisonment, i present you with some new tunes for your aural pleasure.  the audio tracks are on the left in the nifty box.net widget.  more info on the artists after the jump.

Pollyn - This Little Night

the only way i can describe this album is Sade meets synthesizers a la Portishead.   new wave trip hop i guess?
stand out tracks:

  • Gave It Up
  • There’s Only One Way

The Kickdrums - Just A Game

they’ve produced beats for 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, Young Joc, Chamillionaire, and remixed an ungodly amount of hip hop tracks.  this is their indie-inspired hip-hop-ish album.  chillness.
stand out tracks:

  • When I Come Down
  • Personal Calamity
  • Out To Get Me!
Major Lazer - Guns Dont Kill People...Lazers Do

Major Lazer - Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do

think santigold/santogold gone dancehall/reggae.  i’d categorize this as fun-summer-booty-shakin’ music.  if the kill bill storyline included an assasin with roots in brazil, i imagine quentin would’ve chosen “Hold The Line” for said assasin’s theme.
stand out tracks:

  • Hold The Line
  • Can’t Stop Now
